Original Medicare is administered directly by the federal government. and is comprised of two parts: Part A and Part B.

Medicare Part C

Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage Plan) covers Medicare inpatient care, including care received while at the following places:


  • a hospital

  • a skilled nursing facility

  • home health 

  • hospice care.

Medicare Part D

Medicare Part D (Outpatient Prescription Drug Benefit) provides outpatient prescription drug coverage for individuals who are signed up under Medicare Part A and/or Part B. While it is a federal government program to subsidize the costs of prescription drugs, Part D-- unlike Original  Medicare-- is never provided directly by the government.
