Maternity Care and Delivery codes are a subsection of the CPT Surgey Codes and range from 59000-59899.

Vulvectomy

Vulvectomy procedures are classified as four main types:

Simple - removal of skin and superficial subcutaneous tissues Radical- removal of skin and deep subcutaneous tissues

Partial - removal of less than 80% of vulva area

Complete - removal of greater than 80% of vulva area

Laparoscopy/ Hysterectomy

Surgical laparoscopy ALWAYS includes diagnostic laparoscopy.

To report a diagnostic laparoscopy (peritonescopy) (separate procedure), use 49320.

To report a diagnostoc hysterectomy (separate procedure, use 58555.

Modifier -50

Though other modifiers may apply, since male genital procedures often involve both paired organs, Modifier -50 will be frequently used.
